Watching Guo Pei’s fantastically designed creations slowly saunter down the runway is like watching Tarsem Singh’s movie “The Fall” slowly play out before your very eyes… All the whimsy and fantasy, the love and lust, the ethereal creatures…. they enter one by one and an immediate hush falls over the audience as each person becomes entranced, spellbound until she herself emerges at the end- a tiny magnificent woman- eliciting thunderous applause. Her presentation was falling in love with your favorite book or movie, as soon as it ended you wanted to see it again, in slow motion, in case you missed something the first time around. Her magic is not to be messed with. Each piece unique & hand sewn, these are not “outfits,” these are masterpieces, immeasurable works of art & insane craft. I cannot express just what awe her talent instills in even the hardest critic…. you simply have to see it for yourself.
