Hook&Plow breakie

Edibles Jan 11, 2015

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day & I couldn’t agree more. Think of all the amazing foods that fall into the breakfast category- waffles, pancakes, bacon, French toast, frittatas, hashbrowns, eggs benedict, granola parfaits, omlettes, did I mention bacon? Safe to say I’ll never pass up an opportunity to try a new breakfast place so this morning after an 8:30am TRX class (pumped & ready to take on the world!) a friend and I headed to Hook&Plow in Hermosa Beach to try their breakfast menu. Being less than a year old Hook&Plow found a nice little spot on upper Pier Ave with half indoor half patio seating & nice simple beachy decor. They’ve got a great “farm to table, ocean to plate” concept keeping the menu familiar but seasonally unique. We had already decided that dinner there was winner but you’d be surprised how many places mess up with breakfast/ brunch. Hook&Plow however, not the case! Their breakfast menu was just as enticing as their dinner menu & we spent a good 10 minutes debating what items we’d order to share (always a good sign with the #FatGirlAtHeart!)
We finally decided on the H&P eggs benedict: Pork belly, pepita pesto, charred broccolini, roasted tomato, house Hollandaise, & arugula salad on sourdough toast (yes yes yes!)

AND we ordered the Brioche French toast with vanilla bean chantilly, mixed berries, & a likikoi maple syrup that was to die for.
All in all I’d say it’s a good thing we woke up for that TRX class earlier so we didn’t feel so guilty devouring these gorgeous plates for breakie (;
Next time I’m definitely trying the Steak&Eggs: seared flat iron steak, confit potatoes, shishito pepper, mojo verde, fried egg, honey chili glaze, & micro cilantro… Plus they have a prosecco juice flight that’s a bottle of bubbly with 4 fresh juices. Definitely worth a trip back (: Breakfast after all is the most important meal of the day xx
